Mike MannionSubject: Can't start Stylus
Author: Mike Mannion

The following error message appears in a pop-up whenever we try to run stylus. Installation appears to take place without problems.

"The procedure entry point InternetSclStatusCallbackW could not be located in the dynamic link library WININET.dll."

Pressing OK is the only option. Following this nothing happens.

The problem occurs since we received a new corporate roll-out of our NT 4.0 stations. So basically, we can't use stylus, for which we have paid a license.

Many thanks for any advice you can provide.

Have you rebooted after Stylus installation? Can you send us more
information about what version of wininet.dll you have installed on your
system (in winnt\system32)?

Thanks,
Minollo

Yes, a reboot was performed in all cases.

On two of the rollouts the versions of wininet.dll are, respectively 4.70.1215 and 5.00.2919.6305

On the rollout with 4.* we get the error message I described. On 5.* we get a general-protection message already during the installation. The effect is equivalent: Stylus fails to run on both systems.
