Subject:Anyway to specify namespace prefixes when generating xml from xsd? Author:Al Norman Date:11 Jan 2012 11:04 AM
I am currently using SS X14 Enterprise Suite. I am dealing with documenting a large number of schemas and, as part of that process, I generate XML from a schema. The generated xml file always uses prefixes like p1:, p2:, etc. In my documentation I am trying to standardize on consistent prefixes, so I am always having to convert p1: to nc:, for example. I know that the prefixes don't matter (as long as they're used consistently, that is), but I want to always use the nc: prefix when describing the elements in that namespace (http://niem.gov/niem/niem-core/2.0, in this case).
Is there a way in Stylus Studio to specify what prefix should be used when generating XML for a particular namespace?

Yeah, that would work. One thought that I had was that within a project you can associate schemas with a project folder. That might be another way to accomplish this (i.e. by adding a new column 'Default Prefix' to each schema that you specify). But, now that I think of it, with nested schemas this could be labor-intensive (and I'm all for doing as little work as possible ;-).
