Steven PayeurSubject: Setting escape (release) character in X12 XML Converter
Author: Steven Payeur

I've been trying to use the EDI XML Converter to load an X12 document into Stylus as XML. The X12 contains the following segment.

LIN**VN*00525082*BL*SANDS - OLENDER VENDER ?***CN*ChanFoods=FLOUR***UA*000000000000*********C3*SDX…REF*VR*CHANFOODCHI_001

The segment is converted to the following, apparently interpreting the question mark in the LIN05 element to be an escape character, similar to Edifact whose default escape character is the question mark. I've tried setting the "Release (escape) symple (release)" property of the XML Converter to other characters, one being a tilde ('~', %7E), but nothing has worked. How do I get Stylus to faithfully convert this segment to have the CN value in LIN08, instead of LIN07?
<LIN>
<LIN02>VN</LIN02>
<LIN03>00525082</LIN03>
<LIN04>BL</LIN04>
<LIN05>SANDS - OLENDER VENDER *</LIN05>
<LIN07>CN</LIN07>
<LIN08>DawnFoods=FLOUR</LIN08>
<LIN11>UA</LIN11>
<LIN12>000000000000</LIN12>
<LIN21>C3</LIN21>
<LIN22>SDX</LIN22>
</LIN>

Thanks, Steve

To be clear, I'm using Stylus 2008 Enterprise Release 2 with DataDirect XML Converters 3.2: Build 1147f.

Thanks again,
Steve
