Marc HoogerwerfSubject: Connect to SQL Server Express 2008
Author: Marc Hoogerwerf
Date: 08 Jan 2010 10:19 AM
I tried to connect to a SQL Server Express 2008 instance on my local machine, but got an error that the instance was not running. However, I can connect to the instance without problems using SQL Server Management studio.

I tried some suggestions from the DataDirect JDBC userguide:

//localhost:1443
//MyMachineName\\SQLEXPRESS

but nothing worked. Any ideas?

regards,

Marc

Hi Ivan,

Thanks. I disabled the dynamic TCP Dynamic Ports setting in the SQL Server Configuration Manager and set the port to 1433. That solved the issue.

regards,

Marc
