Hello,

I am trying to test Web Services from this end-point:
http://www.totaltraining.com/PartnerAdministrationService/User.svc?wsdl
in the Web Service Call composer.

Unfortunately, Stylus cannot retrieve the Operations from the Web Service. The Operations pane contains no entries. Because of that I cannot run my tests of the mentioned above Web Service.

It might help to know that the Web Service in question was developed by using Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) technology.

Please advise.

P.S. You would need to add an entry to the c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file to be able to call that service:
216.182.87.234 www.totaltraining.com

Just discovered one more publicly available Web Service:
http://sharing.thelearningfederation.edu.au/services/lorax/2008/07/lorax.svc?wsdl

The end-point .svc extension indicates that it is Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Web Service.

Stylus Studio behaves the same – no entries in the Operations pane.

Is it a Stylus Studio problem to handle properly WCF Web Services?

Just in case my SS version details:
Stylus Studio 2009 XML Enterprise Suite R2, Build 1386b

Hi Yitzhak,
the Web Services you named are using SOAP 1.2, while Stylus Studio only supports SOAP 1.1

Wow, bad news for me.

SOAP 1.2 became a standard long time ago when World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) released SOAP Version 1.2 as a recommendation, officially making it a standard in April 27, 2007:
http://www.w3.org/TR/soap12-part1/

By default, the Microsoft WCF services use the SOAP 1.2 format.

Any plans to introduce support for the SOAP 1.2 in Stylus Studio in the near future?

Yitzhak

Hi Alberto,

I found one more publicly exposed service:
http://www.west-wind.com/webstoresandbox/service/WebStoreConsumerService.asmx?WSDL

It is using the previous generation of the Microsoft Web Services technology - *.asmx.

The mentioned above service is using the SOAP 1.2 version. I see it explicitly in the WSDL. At the same time, Stylus Studio recognizes Operations without any problem. Which makes that Web Service callable from SS.

I am confused now.
Please advise.

Regards,
Yitzhak

The last WSDL posted defines both binding, SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2

Hope this helps

Hi Ivan,

So SS recognized the SOAP 1.1 binding only for the
http://www.west-wind.com/webstoresandbox/service/WebStoreConsumerService.asmx?WSDL.

Thanks for the clarification.

Unfortunately, without the SOAP 1.2 binding support Stylus Studio usage is very limited in working with Microsoft WCF Web Services echo sphere.
Microsoft .NET framework 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 versions all support SOAP 1.2 binding by default.
SS needs to support WsHttpBinding in addition to the BasicHttpBinding.

Could you please check if there any plans to introduce support for the SOAP 1.2 in Stylus Studio in the near future?

Regards,
Yitzhak
