Milton ClarkSubject: Is is possible to create a .CONV file externally and import it?
Author: Milton Clark

I have many files that define the layouts of hundreds of flat, non-delimited files. I used the GUI to create one .CONV and looked at the resulting structure.

Since I have many file layout definitions already captured in other files, is there a way to map these to the .CONV file, effectively providing a way to "import" the file layouts into .CONV files?

What is the format in which the file layouts you have are available? If those layouts use some XML vocabulary, in theory you can create an XQuery or XSLT that transforms them into the .conv format (which is XML based). That said, creation of .conv files outside the Stylus Studio UI environment is an operation we don't officially support.
