Maurice GonsalvesSubject: Replacing commas with a blank
Author: Maurice Gonsalves

Hi! I'm new in XSLT. I need to search an IDOC field (e.g. E1KNA1M-NAME1) for commas and replace them with a blank.
I have the Syntax, "xsl:value-of select="translate(E1KNA1M/NAME1,',',' ')"/>
my problem is where do I use it in the program below...
if someone can help, it'll be great!!

<xsl:for-each select="ns:Messages/child::*">
<xsl:for-each select="Z1SD_EXT_DEBMAS_US/IDOC/E1KNA1M/Z1Z1SD_US_E1KNA1M_EXT">

<xsl:variable name="vtweg">
<xsl:value-of select="concat(VTWEG, VKORG, KVGR3)"/>
</xsl:variable>

<Record>
<xsl:for-each select="parent::E1KNA1M">
<CUSTOMER>
<xsl:value-of select="KUNNR"/>
</CUSTOMER>
</xsl:for-each>
<DIST_CHANNEL>
<xsl:value-of select="VTWEG"/>
</DIST_CHANNEL>
<xsl:for-each select="parent::E1KNA1M">
<NAME1>
<xsl:value-of select="NAME1"/>
</NAME1>
<NAME2>
<xsl:value-of select="NAME2"/>
</NAME2>
<ADDRESS1>
<xsl:value-of select="STRAS"/>
</ADDRESS1>
</xsl:for-each>

You should use it where you access the NAME1 element...

<NAME1>
<xsl:value-of select="translate(NAME1,',',' ')"/>
</NAME1>

Thanks Albert for the reply!

I'm using the mapping to create all the fields (KUNNR, VTEG, NAME1 etc.) first!
Then I would like to replace the commas in each fields with Blanks.

You think I should use the codes like this...for example for Field, "NAME1"

<NAME1>
<xsl:value-of select="NAME1"/>
<xsl:value-of select="translate(NAME1,',',' ')"/>
</NAME1>

?? Please advise if possible...

Hi Maurice,
you can first use Mapper to create the structure, and then later replace the NAME1 inside the "select" attribute with the "translate(...)" operation (if you keep both instructions, you will get the same string twice in the output); or you could let Mapper build the function by inserting the block for the "translate" function in the canvas, connect the source NAME1 element to its first input, enter "," and " " as the values for the second and third input port, then link the output to the desired target element. Clearly, if you are doing this many times, it's probably faster to do it just once and then replicate the editing in the text view.

Hope this helps,
Alberto

Thanks very much for your help!!

I have 2 more requests...if you can shed some light, that'll be great help!
I'm putting the first one this time.

I have a document where I have several segments of E1KNVKM and within the segments I have
fields (NAME1, NAMEV & ABTNR) like below:

E1KNVKM

=>NAME1=X
=>NAMEV=Y
=>ABTNR=0000

E1KNVKM

=>NAME1=X
=>NAMEV=Y
=>ABTNR=5678

E1KNVKM

=>NAME1=X
=>NAMEV=Y
=>ABTNR=9999

E1KNVKM

=>NAME1=X
=>NAMEV=Y
=>ABTNR=5898

and so on
.
.
.

Now, I want to write the value "X" for NAME1 and "Y" for NAMEV
if and only if ABTNR=9999
Otherwise, insert a "comma" instead of "X" & "Y"

for the 4 checks the output would look like

,
,

X
Y

,

I start with the XSL codes below, but I'm not sure how I am going to write the conditions and necessary
steps...

<xsl:for-each select="E1KNVKM">

<NAME1>
<xsl:value-of select="NAME1"/>
</NAME1>

<NAMEV>
<xsl:value-of select="NAMEV"/>
</NAMEV>

</xsl:for-each>
