Rainer ReitzSubject: Enterprise Edition, Rel. 3, Build 653c: Unable to connect to JVM
Author: Rainer Reitz

From one day to the other, Studio doesn't recognize the Java Virtual Machine. I confimed Runtime library/path and made a reboot, no success.
Any guess?

...error also occurs when following the path:

- Scenario Properties
- Processor

So maybe it has something to do with the (internal) Saxon engine?!?

Hi Rainer,
have you upgraded the version of the JVM?

Alberto

P.S. the latest update to 2006 Rel 3 is 653g, available from http://www.stylusstudio.com/update/2006_R3.html

...since I didn't change anything to my system...

Hi Rainer,

Which JVM version are you running?

What you see in the Stylus Studio about box?

Which value do you have in the following registry key?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
--SOFTWARE
----JavaSoft
------Java Runtime Environment
--------CurrentVersion

Thanks!

Are you sure you have been always running Java 1.6 with Stylus Studio 2006?

Reinstalled the new JRE and JDK 1.6.0_06, checked JAVA_HOME and Stylus Options; but still the Help/About info "Java Runtime Environment initialization failed"?!? What could be the problem??? Hanging on an urgent customer project.

SOLUTION

Thread "How to configure SS 4.5 to use Xalan" actually guided me to the solution:

The problem was one of the open files when starting SS with a project.
I closed all open (project) files, then just opened a single XSL to be processed and succeeded...

The Help/About contents:

JVM = 10.0-b22 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM Sun Microsystems Inc.
debug mode port:8000
