I am getting an error every time I try to install SS2008 Enterprise.

The install gets all the way to the end, after a long 'Verifying installation...' process. The InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog is displayed, asking me if I want a desktop shortcut. I click on the Finish button. The dialog disappears off the screen. However, the taskbar still shows the 'InstallShield Wizard' item and IKernel.exe is still in the process list. The applications tab of task manager shows the InstallShield Wizard as 'Not Responding'. If I kill the process by hand (either by End Task on the applications tab or by End Process on the processes tab), I get an error dialog. The title bar says Stylus Studio 2008 XML Enterprise Suite. The error text says "An error occurred while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed."

Note that I initially purchased 2007 Professional, upgraded to 2008 Professional, then to 2008 Enterprise. I uninstalled 2008 Professional before installing 2008 Enterprise.

The application 'appears' to work, but I don't feel comfortable that all features were installed correctly.

BTW - I don't know if it makes any difference but I installed Install Aware 7 (a competitor of InstallShield) after I installed 2008 Professional & before I installed 2008 Enterprise.

Any ideas?

Well, if you reached the point when the installation procedure asks you to add an icon to the desktop, it means that all components have been properly installed and registered. So, I don't know why you got that error (I would expect some internal InstallShield issue), but I know your installation is fine.

Okay - thanks. I will continue to use SS & report back if I see any unexpected behavior.
