Ryan GillisSubject: Mapper reoganizes itself.

This is by far the most annoying thing I have found in Stylus Studio. When ever I go to "XSLT -> Scenario Properties", regardless of whether I change anything, as soon as I leave that menu, all my nodes in the mapper move! They form sort of a line in the middle, all on top of each other so I have to waste a bunch of time spreading them out again to figure out what I was doing.

The main reason I am going to that menu is to switch my source XML from time to time, for the purpose of testing parts of my map.

I have been working on two maps over the last week, fortunately they were relatively small, so this rearranging itself thing has only wasted about 2 hours so far, but I am starting a much bigger one now, and this bug could leave me spending more time rearranging nodes then actually mapping!

Hi Ryan,
the position of the mapper blocks is stored in the meta informations associated with the stylesheet, so the auto layout shouldn't kick in. Does this still occur if you explicitly save the stylesheet after rearranging them?

Thanks,
Alberto

Yes, I thought of that, even clicking save before going to that menu doesn't change anything. I can cancel out of the menu with out it changing the map, but if I click 'OK', it rearranges it.

Hi Ryan,
you are indeed right; editing the scenario while Mapper is active will reset the position of the blocks. We will fix the problem for the next release; in the meanwhile you should switch to the text view before editing the scenario informations.

Thanks,
Alberto

Hi Ryan,
clicking on the "refresh preview" button of the preview window will perform the "set current scenario" operation that will reset the position of the mapper nodes; you should instead use the "preview result" button that is available in the mapper toolbar.

Thanks, Alberto.

Still, is there anyway to disable the auto-mapper? I'm sure it serves some purpose, so far all it has done is hinder my work. If there isn't an option to turn it off, then their should be! :-)

Hi Ryan,
the auto-format cannot be disabled, but it only kicks in when the user-defined layout cannot be located in the meta informations. The bug (already fixed) is that the meta informations gets lost when changing scenario with the Mapper window active.

Hope this clears the picture,
Alberto
