ryan dilauraSubject: Compare of 2 xml files
Author: ryan dilaura

Hi -

I am trying to compare two xml documents. I run the compare using the "Tools/Show differences in" method and the process (compare) just never seems to end. I have waited 1 hour so far with no result returned.

The size of the files I am comparing are 5774KB and 5902KB...should they really take that long to compare? (Maybe I am not using the right function for this? I did this based on what I saw in your online tutorial)

I would like to promote your tool here at work, but my evaluation thusfar has been fruitless. Please forgive my inability and help me understand how to better use your tool to accomplish this task.

Ryan

There are two different algorithms for comparing files.

Make sure you are using the 'fast' algorithm, and you might
also want to select the 'optimize for the large documents with
few changes'.

The 'thorough' algorithm is best for small files with lots of
changes.
