Hrithik RoshanSubject: Stylus Studio XML generation from relational database
Author: Hrithik Roshan

Hi,

We are a company that gets orders through the web. When someone orders, it is updated in the database and we generate an XML of that order and FTP the XML to the lab for printing.

Is it possible for stylus studio, whenever an order is placed(or an update is made to the database), to detect that update and generate an XML for that particular update.

Hi,
Stylus Studio doesn't support monitoring a database table or a file repository to detect incoming messages; but you can implement what you need by directly using DataDirect XQuery 3.0, especially if the message is delivered through a Web Service.
In this case you could implement the Web Service through an XQuery program (see http://www.xquery.com/examples/web-service-example); the XQuery would generate the XML fragment and at the same time update the database table using the SQL extension functions of DataDirect XQuery (see http://www.xquery.com/examples/updates).

Hope this helps,
Alberto
