James HansonSubject: Problems connecting to DB2/400 via DB to XML Source
Author: James Hanson
Date: 13 Feb 2007 02:02 PM
I am having the same problem as posted in 'Problems Connecting to to DB2/400 via DB to XML Source' on Feb. 23, 2005.
I am opening a New - DB to XML Data Source. I select Relational DB - DB2. I enter the Server URL as //ourserver:446;locationName=NEXEN;collectionId=NEXEN;packageName=JDBCPKG and enter the name and password.
The resulting error is Unsupported VM encoding Cp835. I tried the answer given by Ivan Pedruzzi on February 25, 2005, in the aforementioned posting making sure that I select international language support for my JVM. My Java Virtual Machine is: 1.5.0_11-b03 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM Sun Microsystems Inc.
Any suggestions?

Hi James,

Which Stylus Studio build are you running?

If you are running 2007 release could you try to connect using File Explorer -> Relational DB?

Thank you
Ivan Pedruzzi

Hi Ivan,

I am running Framework Version: Build 735f.

I am able to connect via the File Explorer view. I can navigate the DB tree down to the table that I want. When I right-click, open-with, DBtoXML, I get a lengthy error message. The message in summary is "Error occured with SQLCode -114 with the following parameters: ...".

Attached is a screen shot of the message as well as a text file containing the details not seen on the screen shot.

Thanks.
James.

Actually you should simply double click on the table name or click Open.

Does it happen with any table?

Thank you
Ivan

Yes. The same error occurs when the table is double clicked.
I have tried it on several tables in different libraries.

Thanks.
James.

I have found the problem. It stems from the Server URL in the connection settings. The URL format is:
//[host]:446;locationName=[locationname];collectionId=[collectionId];packageName=JDBCPKG
where
host=your host address
locationName=(see below)
collectionId=Iseries library(this doesn't seem to matter).

My problem was with the location name. This should be whatever is found under the 'Entry' column where 'Remote Location' = *LOCAL when you do a WRKRDBDIRE command on the Iseries. When I changed the locationName to this value, everything started working.

I hope someone finds this information useful.

Thank you.
James.
