From everything I've read on this forum, it appears that the only connectivity to MySQL is via DataDirect ODBC drivers/bridge. Is that still the case with the latest version? Will there be native JDBC support for MySQL in an upcoming patch or release?

That's still the situation; better MySQL support should happen soon, but it's currently a matter out of the hands of the development team... so it's difficult to provide any estimate.
