Uday RaoSubject: FOP Plugin does not install with Studio 2007 Enterprise Suite
Author: Uday Rao

Even after doing a Complete install of the Stylus Studio 2007 XML Enterprise Suite, the FOP plugins that is supposed be in bin\plugins\FOP, do not show up. As a result, I am unable to use the FOP to convert to PDF and none of the examples that use FOP work. Can someone help me? I am using the most current Stylus Studio install.

Stylus Studio 2007 (as 2006 Release 3) bundles RenderX XEP; you can use that for FO to PDF post processing.

FOP is not part of the default downloaded Stylus Studio package, but if you try to use it Stylus Studio should prompt you to download the component from our web site. Once that download is complete, Apache FOP will be available too for FO to PDF post processing.

Hi SSDN,

The FOP install prompt does not appear when selecting FOP for XQuery post processing like it does for the style sheet post processing.

Also, it appears that if FOP is set as a post-processing on an XQuery, and that XQuery is added to a pipeline, the pipeline still uses XEP. How can I get the pipeline to use FOP?

Thanks,
Jammy

Hi Jammy,
when you run a pipeline step that performs a FO processing, the
processor used is the one specified in the scenario setting of the
pipeline, regardless of the one that what specified in the original XQuery.
As for the missing request for installing FOP, I double checked and I
see it when running an XQuery; could you try to reproduce the
situation when it didn't happen for you?

Thanks,
Alberto

Hi Alberto,

I now see what you are saying about setting the FO processor for the pipeline. Thanks for the quick response.

In regard to reproducing the situation where I didn't see a prompt when setting the post-processing to FOP in the XQuery scenario.... how would I remove the FOP plugin so that I could test for the prompt again?

Thanks,
Jammy

Hi Jammy,
just rename the whole folder <stylus dir>\bin\plugins\fop.

Thanks,
Alberto

Oh... it does when I click the preview 'play' button. I just was expecting the prompt earlier when selecting FOP in the scenario properties.

It's working fine. :)

Thanks,
-Jammy
