P FSubject: Can't type in WYSIWYG window

This is very weird. I can modify the xsl directly and then see the changes in preview mode, but the keyboard seems disabled in the WYSIWYG window. I can't even highlight text. Yes, I'm absolutely sure that this is the WYSIWYG window and not the preview window: the editing tools are displayed, and as I move around the cursor, I can see the font name change, etc. I'm using the your-quotes example.

Can you post exact steps to reproduce the problem, beginning with opening Stylus? Also, what versions of Stylus, Windows and Internet Explorer are you running?

Here are the steps:

1) Run stylus from the start menu.
2) Accept the defaults from the "Open Stylesheet" wizard, ie. your-quotes.(xsl,xml)
3) From the Stylus menu, select View/WYSIWYG.
4) Move the mouse into the WYSIWYG pane, position the cursor before the Q and press the left mouse button.
5) The vertical text cursor appears properly.
6) Type "huh?".
7) Nothing happens.

IE 5
Stylus 2.0.06

Any advice? This is a pretty significant roadblock.

Can you check a few more things?

1) Version numbers and locations of all copies on your system of: MFC42U.DLL, TRIEDIT.DLL, MSHTML.DLL

2) You mentioned being able to "move around the cursor;" can you move the cursor with the keyboard, or only the mouse?

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mfc42u.dll 6.00.8447.0
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSHTML.DLL 5.50.4030.2400
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Triedit\triedit.dll 6.01.8667

I can move with arrow keys and tabs too.

PS. I can also drag and drop XML nodes into the WYSIWYG display. Just can't type, highlight, or delete there.

You're running the IE 5.5 Beta? That's almost certainly the source of the problem.

I'm having the exact same problem with WYSIWYG view.

So, if IE 5.5 beta is the source of the problem, then are you saying we have to uninstall IE 5.5 beta to get Stylus to work?

If this is the case, you should have put this information on your download page so people didn't run into this same problem 12 days later.

The XSLT-based XML to HTML WYSISWYG functionality as described in some older marketing material and web page has been discontinued in the latest Stylus Studio version in favor of an improved module (XML Publisher) that supports both XSLT and XQuery.
