(Deleted User) Subject: RDBXML connection to Oracle DB using LDAP
Author: (Deleted User)

Our organization uses an LDAP intermediary to provide connections to Oracle databases.

Oracle file sqlnet.ora contains
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (LDAP, TNSNAMES)
Telling it to first search for a matching connection in LDAP then search in TNSNAME.ora file

I know the server and ports for the directory server but not for the DB sever. This allows the DBA staf to move things around without changing everyones TNSNAMES.ORA file.

I can create an ODBC connection to a server by providing just a name. LDAP Directory server fills in the host name, SID and port values.

How do I construct an RDBXML connection to an Oracle DB through an LDAP directory server?

Hi Greg,

This topic has been discussed here
http://www.stylusstudio.com/SSDN/default.asp?action=9&read=5045&fid=23

We are sorry but currently there is no firm plan to add support for LDAP authentication.

Can I change JDBC driver to one that supports it?

Using DataDirect Sequelink you can plug an existing ODBC driver
Please take a look at http://www.stylusstudio.com/docs/v2006/d_rdb17.html#wp461275

Hope this helps
