Just to better understand: are you thinking about this as a way to "copy" settings you choose on a machine to a different machine?

One way to do that is to export this registry key on the machine where you are using Stylus Studio (assuming you are running 2006 Release 3):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stylus Studio\XML Enterprise Edition 2006 Release 3

...and then import the exported .reg file on the other machine (where the same Stylus Studio version needs to be installed).

this is a way for equal versions. I am thinking of a mechanism to transport at least preferences and settings equally available in two different versions between those two versions e.g. via a cumulative XML structure, where each version only reads/writes elements relevant to itself.

That's understood; I was just mentioning a workaround.
