James AgnewSubject: Support for Berkeley DB XML 2.2.13
Author: James Agnew
Date: 13 Mar 2006 02:21 AM
Hello

I'm running Stylus Studio 2006 Enterprise and am trying to connect to a Berkeley DB XML 2.2.13 container. I have the PATH and CLASSPATH environmental variables correctly setup, yet I receive the error:

===========================================
com.stylusstudio.sleepycat.dbxml.DBXMLException: You must set your CLASSPATH and PATH environment variables before using the Berkeley DB XML adapter.
============================================

Having looked through this forum's archives, I see that this occured when other users attempted to open recently-released versions of DB XML, so I suspect this is related to version 2.2.13 not being supported.

Perhaps someone could confirm this and advise me on how to get it working.

Thanks, James

James,
what Stylus Studio build are you running? (Help > About)

If that's not BL501h, you can update for free to the latest BL501 build from http://www.stylusstudio.com/update/2006.html

Thanks,
Minollo

James,
the Stylus Studio version you are running works fine with DB XML 2.2.13; can you tell us more about your CLASSPATH and PATH settings?

Thanks,
Minollo

I've now got it working - it seems that the full path to the the individual dbxml jar files needed to be explicitly declared in the CLASSPATH = D:\dev\dbxml\jar\db.jar;D:\dev\dbxml\jar\dbxml.jar;

just using CLASSPATH = D:\dev\dbxml\jar; doesn't seem to work for Stylus Studio (although it is fine for DB XML java API)

Thanks, James

That's a current limitation of the DB XML integration in Stylus Studio; we do require the jar files to be in the classpath. Just adding the folder (even if the .class files are accessible in there) won't be enough.

Thanks,
Minollo
