First of all i'm new here and i would like to welcome all.

I'm having some problems with some xpath expression

I'll give you a short view of my XML file and explain what i want to achieve

<game>
<bettingoffice>Betexplorer</bettingoffice>
<hometeam>Milan</hometeam>
<visitor>Juventus</visitor>
<quote1>1,2</quote1>
<quotedraw>2,8</quotedraw>
<quote2>2,3</quote2>
</game>
<game>
<bettingoffice>Betexplorer</bettingoffice>
<hometeam>Torino</hometeam>
<visitor>Roma</visitor>
<quote1>1,3</quote1>
<quotedraw>3,8</quotedraw>
<quote2>3,3</quote2>
</game>
......
<game>
<bettingoffice>William Hill</bettingoffice>
<hometeam>Milan</hometeam>
<visitor>Juventus</visitor>
<quote1>1,3</quote1>
<quotedraw>2,5</quotedraw>
<quote2>2,1</quote2>
</game>

My XML File represents the quotes from different Betting houses that offer Matchbetting. In this example the Italian Seria A is depicted.

What i'm trying to achieve is to group together all quotes for a certain match. So i iterate over each match find all the same matches and give out the quotes from the different bettinghouses.

UFF I have no idea how to do this. I would be really glad if you could help me out.

Thanks Alex

Hi, Alexander. What you want to do requires XSLT grouping -- for each contest (we have renamed "match" just to avoid confusion), you want group together all the odds being put forward by various betting houses. Since multiple betting houses might be offering odds on a particular contest, you need some way to identify all like contests and group them, and the betting houses and their odds, and you do this by creating a key, which we did by concatenating the <hometeam> and <visitor> elements.

Note that for both the source XML document and the XML output by the XSLT transformation, we created a root element (<games>) to ensure well-formed XML. These element names, of course, could be anything.

The XSLT is attached. It includes comments which we hope you find useful.

Hope this helps.

You're not seeing things! I posted a reply without attaching the XSLT.

Hello.

I was so pleased yesterday when i got the answer to my question from David posted on this board.

I tested it out in XMLspy it worked wuala! So happy.

However today i found out, that the programm i am using (which has a xslt-processor biuld in doesnt support this key notation. Well i am devastated.

So i hope that maybe someone or maybe you david can give me an alternative way to solve it. (PLEASE :-( )
