Author: jega kannan

Hello,

I sincerely thank you for your answers to my earlier questions.

I have a situation here,

Input file:

<artbody>
<section><heading1>xxxx</heading1><p>xxxxx</p><subsect1><p>xxxx</p><p>xxxx</p><p>xxxx</p></subsect1><subsect2><q>xxxx</q><a>xxxxx</a><q>xxxx</q><a>xxxxx</a></subsect2></section></artbody>

Expecting a output file:

<artbody>
<section><heading1>xxxx</heading1><p>xxxxx</p><subsect1><p>xxxx</p><p>xxxx</p><p>xxxx</p></subsect1><subsect2>

<qanda>
<q>xxxx</q><a>xxxxx</a><q>xxxx</q><a>xxxxx</a></qanda>

</subsect2></section></artbody>

Could you please help to to write a xslt?... I have tried <xsl:for each in every manner... But, I have failed.

Please help me.

Sincerely,

Jega

A good place for general XSLT-specific questions is the
xsl-list at http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list/index.html

Something like this may help:
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:apply-templates/>
</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="subsect2">
<subsect2>
<qanda>
<xsl:apply-templates/>
</qanda>
</subsect2>
</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="*">
<xsl:element name="{name()}">
<xsl:apply-templates/>
</xsl:element>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>

Thanks for your reply. However, I don't want to hardcode every level of the element to reach the group level element area. I would like to group it dynamically by order when I find that particular element name.

Please help me.

I have problems in following what you are trying to do. In any case, as I suggested before, a good place for general XSLT-specific questions is the
xsl-list at http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list/index.html
