Hello,

We have projects which design very large XML Schema:
- more than 20 roots elements.
- near 40 included .xsd files
- for a total of 1.5Mb of xsd files (included comments.)

The conception of these schemas are made by Business Analyst which prefer to use diagram view than text editing.

The issue we encoutered with Stylus Studio 2006 is freezes when trying to work on these schemas with the diagram view.
When we try to scroll down, expand elements, zoom-in or out, a hour glass always appears few seconds and the program is freezed.
It's not a long freeze, but it happens each time, so editing becomes very boring.

If it can optimize performances, we don't need automatic code/diagram synchronization, how to disable it?

It's not a hardware issue, the CPU never reach its maximum and there is always a lot of free memory.
My configuration:
- Windows XP SP1.
- Intel Pentium 4 at 2.66Ghz
- 1Gb DDR RAM.

We try on other XML Schema editor with diagram view, and there's not this freeze issue.

Is there a way to increase the performances? Else we will have to use another editor.

Best Regards,

Olivier.

Olivier,
What Stylus Studio version are you running? (Help > About)

You can turn off synchronization with source by minimizing the source code panel (clicking on the proper arrow at the right of the splitter bar between diagram and source panes).

That said, you shouldn't be experiencing performance problems in the conditions you are describing; we test schema diagram against much larger schemas (and included schemas) than what you are using, and things work well.

Can you try selecting "Diagram > Load All Schemas" and see if anything changes? That would force all schemas to be loaded in one shot, avoiding lazy loading.

If the problem persists, would it be possible for you to email us the schemas you are using so that we can understand what's going on? (stylus-field-report@progress.com)

Thanks,
Minollo

After a long week-end rest for my computer, the diagram view is now OK and I can scroll, or zoom in and out without any freezes.

Regards,

Olivier.
