John KotesSubject: Support for Oracle tns names ?
Author: John Kotes

Seems as though the SS product (6r3-377o) doesn't support creating URL Oracle connections using tns names file. I searched the DataDirect site and found that there is jdbc support for Oracle URL connections using tns (http://media.datadirect.com/download/docs/jdbc/jdbcref/title.htm).

So, I tried to manually force it into an SS *.rdbxml file (see below) and then reloaded it. But, this doesnt work

<meta-info CurrentScenario="0"><scenario JDBC_DRIVER_CLASS="com.ddtek.jdbc.jxtr.JXTRDriver" JDBC_CONNECTION_URL="jdbc:datadirect:oracle:TNSNamesFile=c:\tnsnames.ora;TNSServerName="TNSSN" JDBC_CONNECTION_USER="admin" DATA_ENCRYPTED="True" JDBC_CONNECTION_PASSWORD="041223563423731F4E" ROOT_NODE="" xmlforest=""><select/><update/></scenario></meta-info>

Any suggestions on how (if possible) to use tns names in SS Oracle db connections?

Thanks, John

John,

The jdbc oracle driver bundled with Connect for SQL/XML doesn't support TNS NAMES file. User guide for the bundled drivers can be found at http://www.stylusstudio.com/SSDN/default.asp?action=9&read=3119&fid=47#8759

Could tell us more about your requirements to use the TNS file rather then pointing directly to the server?

Thank You
