(Deleted User) Subject: stylesheets and namespaces

If I have an XML file that uses information from a namespace outside the main document the tags have a prefix that is given by the namespace tag which can be assigned by the sender of the document.

This means it can be different for each document instance. However stylus seems to require it to recgnise tags correctly.

Please help as I would like to make the XSL namespace prefix independant.

Unfortunately, Stylus does not yet have knowledge of namespaces. It treats foo:bar as an element with this name, rather than a qualified bar element. We are working to include namespace support, but this will not happen in the upcoming release.

Thanks for the support. I would like to press for namespace support to be added asap. It is a real problem if you work in an environment where monolithic DTD or schemas are unmanageable.

I know I am only one person, but it would be interesting to see others vies on this matter.

PS. Do you know of any XSLT parser that does support them currently and supports all latest XSLT/XPATH/XSL standards

I believe saxon:

http://users.iclway.co.uk/mhkay/saxon/

and the lotus/apache:

http://xml.apache.org

support namespaces and most of the xsl/xpath functionality.
