Has anyone here had any experience using Stylus Studio to do GJXDM mappings? I am currently evaluating tools for generating XSLT, but I've hit a road block with Stylus Studio in that it chokes on massive Schemas (when specified as the target document). (The Global Justice XML Data Model, http://it.ojp.gov/jxdm/ , is a mammoth structure that represents law enforcement data and weighs in at around 8.2Mb.) Is it even possible to get SS to work with something this big and complex? If so, how? (At this point, using GJXDM sub-Schemas are not really an option.)

Michael,

It seems that the XML Schema Editor is capable to handle
this gigantic schema pretty well except the documentation tab.

Mapper silently fails to load the schema because it includes
jxdm\ut_offender-tracking-misc\1.0\ut_offender-tracking-misc.xsd
that has this import

<xsd:import namespace="http://www.it.ojp.gov/jxdm/appinfo/1"
schemaLocation="../../appinfo/1/appinfo.xsd">

that points to a non existing file. You can download it from
http://it.ojp.gov/jxdm/appinfo/1/appinfo.xsd, and place it in an
"appinfo\1" folder sibling of the "3.0.2" folder.

Still Stylus takes a long time to analize the schema structure.
We will try to improve this aspect for future releases.

Thank you very much for your response. It's always nice to know
people are listening, which is more than I can say for some of your
competitors.

At any rate, I've found that Stylus Studio is definitely the superior
product when compared alternatives, and I think it may work out if I
just throw more hardware at the problem.

I won't pretend to have a clue about internals, but it appears obvious
Stylus is attempting to parse the entire Schema structure upon loading
it. Is this the case and if so, is it absolutely necessary? Why not
"simply" exclude what is not immediately necessary? For instance, only
grab all top-level elements and if I expand a branch, load only the
relevant nodes from the Schema and cull the rest. I am guessing
MapForce takes this approach since it has no trouble when attacking
the GJXDM.

Oh well, I am rambling now. Thank you again for your response and I
hope future versions of SS will give adequate treatment to this issue.
