Hi,

You can use the "generate-id()" function in xpath, which takes a node and generates a unique id for it:

(a)(xsl:attribute name="href")#(xsl:value-of select="generate-id(/doc/files/file[1])"/>(/xsl:attribute)click here(/a)

Then add the named anchor:

(a)(xsl:attribute name="name")(xsl:value-of select="generate-id(.)"/)(/xsl:attribute)(/a)

in a template that matches /doc/files/file[1] in this example.

I want it to link to the appropriate section in the bottom, based on the id, which a parent node. The sections are given by:

Thanks for your help,
Anne

The problem is that the text to be clicked on is not static. It is an attribute from my xml file. It is chosen by:

This is not a problem. You can do something like:

(a)(xsl:attribute name="href")#(xsl:value-of select="generate-id(/doc/files/file[1])"/>(/xsl:attribute)(xsl:value-of select="/doc/files/file[1]/@id"/)(/a)

That is, you can just use value-of in your anchor. If I am missing something, it is because I can't see your document hierarchy and your templates. You can send those to me personally if you want.

- Omri.
