alessandro marzialiSubject: DB to XML Data Conversion issue
Author: alessandro marziali

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to convert a DB table to XML data structure (like DB to XML Conversion option of Stylus) automaticaly (calling tools or API or several coded lines in Java or ...).

I saw that Stylus option creates a basic XML structure from a DB table but how can I do that automaticaly?

At last, what is the general advantage of translate DB tables in XML structures?

Thanks in advance for your attention.

Best Regards.

Alessandro Marziali.

Alessandro,

If I have understood correctly, you would like to replicate the DB to
XML feature in your app.
One option is to use the same component Stylus uses: "Connect for
SQL/XML" from DataDirect

Stylus let you drag & drop a table/view from the database schema and it
creates the basic SQL or SQL/XML statement for you.
You can issue any SQL statements and you will get the XML default view

XML can be exchanged with other applications, and can be also easily
transformed to standard formats like HTML, PDF and SVG.

Here some good reading on SQL/XML
