Frank-Ralph ReiserSubject: Source-XML changed by other processes...

We often change xml files manually with other programs.

When using an xml file as source with the sophisticated xslt ide and changing the source xml outside stylus studio, it sometimes takes a lot of time until stylus studio recognizes the file having changed.

Are there any options to reduce the period stylus studio checks for changes?

Stylus checks for changes only when focus is moved from another application
back to Stylus (optimizing the case in which the change is happening on the
same machine where Stylus is running).

We don't periodically check for changes to avoid potentially heavy network
traffic. You may force a check by alt-tabbing from stylus to another app
and back to Stylus.

Yes, but we discovered that sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't...

Yes, indeed. This would not be very reasonable.

At first we thought this was timed, but now we discovered something:

When the output preview window is detached, even switching forth and back between stylus studio and other applications doesn't work: The (changed) source xml isn't being reloaded.

But we found out that it is the detached preview window preventing stylus studio from recognizing the altered files, so now we know what to do ;-)

Thanks,
