Steve CapellSubject: xCBL, OAG, UBL and Stylus Studio - errors
Author: Steve Capell

I am evaluating Stylus Studio for use in extending standard schema and designing XML-XML transformations. All schema i will use are standards like OAG, UBL, xCBL, etc. All these are composite schema in the sense that they are built from smaller re-usable components. I find that Stylus Studio will not correctly open any of these standard schema.

xCBL3.5 - uses element references to point to components. If I open the Invoice.xsd schema, Stylus studio cannot pick up the InvoiceHeader & InvoiceDetail components:

If I open a UBL Invoice schema, Stylus studion cant seem to follow the path to show imported components:

If I open an OAGIS 8.0 BOD, Stylus studion cant seem to make the connection to the components schema from the include element:

Has anyone successfully used Stylus studio to manage complex schema with imports / includes / references to other components schema??

Hi, Steve

Stylus Studio is designed to work for the composite schemas.

for the Invoice.xsd, I can understand why the InvoiceHeader can't be
expanded for children element. I looked at the Invoice.xsd in XCBL3.5 and
found this schema does not contain any import/include schemas and Stylus has
no way to obtain the definition for InvoiceHeader.

for other two cases, I don't see why the component defined in the
include/imported schema can not be reached. can you zip all the involved
schemas in your test case and we can better understand the problem,

btw, just to verify with you that the problem you are seeing happened when
you use mapper and choose source/destination schemas, right? does the same
thing happens when you open the schema files in the schema editor(go to
diagram tab and right click on an element, then choose 'go to definition',
you can see if the definition can be reached from there)

song.

Thanks for your response. I agree with your analysis on xCBL 3.5. Apparently there is another version of xCBL3.5 XSD called "single root" which does have the includes so a developer can navigate. The standard 3.5 has all the includes in a single document at namespace level called xcbl35.xsd

As for the UBL and OAG, I now realise I had misunderstood the use of the tree pane in Stylus studio. if I go to the diagram pane all works OK.

Thanks
