Jayashree DesaleSubject: XPath expression
Author: Jayashree Desale

I want to query for a loginname in my XML documents which contains a special characters like "@" and ".".
I have a param defined as email want to use this to query XML doc, which is something like "..../[loginname=$email]
If I do .../[loginname='a@b.com'], it works.
I want to use email variable instead.

Thanks
Jaya

Jayashree,
sorry for the delay in replying.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. I tried a few experiments using a
query similar to what you are describing, and I couldn't reproduce the
problem using variables that you are mentioning.

I tried this ({ == < and } == >):
{xsl:for-each select="//authors[author='minollo@exln.com']"}
{xsl:copy-of select="."/}
{/xsl:for-each}

....and it worked fine as you mentioned; then I also tried this:

{xsl:variable name="email" select="'minollo@exln.com'"/}
{xsl:for-each select="//authors[author=$email]"}
{xsl:copy-of select="."/}
{/xsl:for-each}

....and this...

{xsl:variable name="email"}minollo@exln.com{/xsl:variable}
{xsl:for-each select="//authors[author=$email]"}
{xsl:copy-of select="."/}
{/xsl:for-each}

....and they both worked as expected.

Can you send us a testcase so that I can better understand the problem you
are describing?

Thanks,
Minollo
