Lee MandellSubject: entity expansion
Author: Lee Mandell

Whenever I use the Indent XML feature or modify an XML document in the tree view my entity declarations get expanded and replaced with the files they point to.

Is there a way to prevent this?

I have attached a before and after file to demonstrate

DocumentSampleBefore.xml

DocumentSampleAfter.xml

It's a bug that has been fixed since Stylus 3.1 bl69g. If you are using a
previous version, please upgrade to the latest one (available at
http://www.stylusstudio.com/update ) and let us know if it solves this problem.

Alberto,

I was running 3.1 69t and I just upgraded to 69u and I am still having the problem. Let me know what additional information I can get you to help you track the problem down.

Hi Lee,
by reading your mail more carefully, I now notice that you are talking
about two different scenarios (indenting the XML and manipulating it in the
tree view). Studio 3.1 bl69g fixed the "Indent XML" scenario, so that it
preserves any external entity reference; unfortunately the XML tree view
(as well as the DTD view) manipulates the DOM tree, that, at that time, was
not updated with the instrumentation needed to preserve the external entity
references during the serialization phase.

As a workaround for the time being, you can either:
a) move the internal subset into an external DTD file (recommended);
b) download and install the current Stylus 4.0 beta version (you would hit
another bug in the serialization of unparsed entities, however);
c) wait for the release of Stylus 3.1 bl69v

Hope this helps,

Alberto
