Neil BentleySubject: Problems for keyboard jockeys
Author: Neil Bentley
Date: 22 Mar 2002 07:21 AM
At times Stylus Studio makes it very difficult to navigate using the keyboard. Some of the following problems with the XSLT editor existed in previous versions but they remain in 4.0 beta (build 082):

1. The screen is not updated when jumping to a different line using the Go To dialog;
2. It is impossible to navigate between the different panes using a keyboard;
3. When creating a new template the window does show the new template if editing in full source mode;
4. When an element is selected (using the mouse) in the right hand pane, it would be useful to be able to start typing immediately in the source pane.

Another feature that would be welcome is the names of parameters for a named template to be in a SenseX dialog when adding a xsl:with-param element.

Yep; that's clearly a bug; it will be quickly fixed.

We are aware of that; we are planning to address that issue before 4.0 is
officially released.

I can't reproduce this behavior; have you seen it running BL82? If so, can
you give me more details about how to reproduce it?

Not sure I understand this; you mean when selecting an element associated
to a template in the XML source tree in the right pane of the XSLT editor
window? If that's what you mean, I see your point.

Makes sense; I'll file a PCR for this.

Thanks for the feedback!

3. I thought I had seen the problem in build 082 but I was unable to reproduce it when I tried just now.

4. Yes. When a template is created after (double?) clicking on an element in the source tree, I keep expecting to be able to start typing immediately within the new template.

BTW, what happened to the documentation? It was out of date for version 3.1 and promised to be updated for this version.

It is now in synch with 3.1; it will also be in synch with 4.0 when it will
be officially released.

BTW, we could reproduce this only on BL82, not on BL69; we have fixed that
in BL82a, a minor beta update available from
http://www.stylusstudio.com/beta, and in BL69s,
http://www.stylusstudio.com/update

Thanks for reporting this,
Minollo
