Hans-Peter KüchlerSubject: to much new versions?
Author: Hans-Peter Küchler

Hi,

in the last weeks there where more than ten new versions of SS. But the shorter the time between the versions the more nagging small bugs I found. In the zip file are one xml file (error.xml), one xsl file (error.xsl), one prj file (error.prj with scenario "Debug") and three txt files.
If I open the xsl file in "full source mode", I can't switch to "template mode", the error box says "Unexpected character Line number:2".
If I switch from "XSLT Source" view to "Params/Other" view, the "Output method" drop down box shows "unspecified" instead of "xml".
If I put a break point on line 45 (text on this line is {xsl:value-of select="Data"/}) and press F5 to debug, the breakpoint will be reached several times. But the template will only match one time for the xml file, not several times. The output seen in the "XSLT Preview" window while the breakpoint is reached is on totally bad position. The text files breakpoint1.txt, breakpoint2.txt breakpoint3.txt contains the output for the first, second, third time the breakpoint is reached.
There is some other behavior I can't reproduce:
Sometime breakpoints are ignored (but the output is correct).
Sometime the popup windows (Sense:X) doesn't go away (especially while scrolling the window with the mouse wheel).

Don't misunderstand me: SS is a powerful and easy to use development tool and I like it very much!

Hans,
you are absolutely right; in the past few weeks we have had too many new
patched/fixed/enhanced sub-builds. We have been trying to do that to
address show-stopper issues reported by customers, but in some cases we
have not been able to detect side-effects that some more time would have
helped us discover before releasing a version.

Anyway; we are aware of a couple of issues you are mentioning. Let us take
a look to all the points you are mentioning and we'll let you know what we
thing and what we can do.

Thanks,
Minollo

Hans,
almost all of the issues you are mentioning are caused by a problem
introduced in 69n which has already been fixed - unfortunately not in time
to make 69o...

So, my answer is the worst one you could get in an discussion thread about
the necessity of so many new versions... that's right, we have a new
package ready... We were making it available anyway to avoid troubles to
users downloading the latest version; now we have one more reason to do that.

3.1 69p available on http://www.stylusstudio.com/update

The one issue I'm not sure is covered by the fixed issue is "Sometime the
popup windows (Sense:X) doesn't go away (especially while scrolling the
window with the mouse wheel)"; I've tried reproducing that, but I failed...

Sorry for the trouble,
Minollo

Hi,

I take your answer in good humor. And I see, that the eXcelon team kept it's sense of humor too! I don't only like the tool, I also love the support team. But again: Don't misunderstand, I'm lucky married!
