Chris ProbertSubject: Reversal of mapping
Author: Chris Probert
Date: 24 Jan 2002 02:28 PM
Hi,

I have not thought this one through too hard, so excuse me if it is a little fuzzy. I was wondering if anyone knew of any way to try and automate the process of producing the reverse of a defined transformation. i.e. I create a transform which changes XMLA -> XMLB and need to produce one that goes from XMLB -> XMLA. Is there any way to capture (even some) of the already defined relationships?
I realise that this could be tricky technically, but it just seems that for a complex mapping task, creating the reverse transformation is going to involve a large amount of duplicated effort.

Any thoughts much appreciated,

Chris.

Hi, Chris

We did think about it before but felt this is pretty hard to implement.
Also it seems to us most of our users want the one-way transformation
only. But we are still open to this issue.

If you can come up with some idea or suggestion, please let us know.

Thanks
