(Deleted User) Subject: Resticted file types in dialogs
Author: (Deleted User)

On Beta3.1 as in earlier versions of the products you seem to always insist on a particular set of file type for particular operations. This means that if you use another type you can not open the file with out renaming it.

I want to use xslt with SOX source files. But can not open the files. Can you please, please include an 'all files *.*' option in your dialog boxes.

To which particular open file dialog are you referring to? If you do
File|Open, you have the possibility to select an "all files *.*" option.
About file extensions, you can override the existing association among file
extensions and plugins in the Open File dialog clicking on the down arrow
next to the open button. If the extension is not known to the application,
you can instruct it to do what you need with it.

Can you give us some more details about what you are trying to do and the
application doesn't allow you to do?

Thanks,
Minollo

I've tried this, and verified under Tools/Options/Application Settings/File Types (I have an NTC entry as XML document).

However, in the File/Open dialog, the "Stylus Studio Documents" is still the standard set of extensions. To see my NTC files I still need to select 'All Files (*.*)'.

Also, Tools/Options/Application Settings/Default Extensions does not include any types defined in the 'File Types' section...

Yes, that's true; the File Types page in options is used to associated
extensions to plugins; but then those extensions are not listed in the Open
File dialog.
I'm filing a PCR about this.

That's true again.

Reality is that in the 3.0 design we thought about the "extensible"
extended mechanism as something to help users handle unusual file
extensions; but we never thought this would have become so useful and so
widely used.

We'll work on them; not sure if by beta 2; but surely by 3.1 GA.

Thanks for your comments,
Minollo

You mean the selection of source and destination schemas.
You are right; we are fixing that.

Thanks,
Minollo
