(Deleted User) Subject: Source designation missing when reopening map xsl
Author: (Deleted User)
Date: 14 Jun 2001 09:54 AM
When I reopen my xsl file for additional mapping, the source designation is missing in the title bar. And when I click on the bar to redesignate again, after I have selected the root element, I get a dialog box stating: "Reset schema will result in the lost of all links, do you want to continue?

The only way I have found around this is to copy the text of the full source, open a new xml to xml map and paste the full source in to that. Then when I go to map view, the links are back.

That worked once without a hitch, today HOWEVER, when I clicked on the refresh button I got an unrecoverable error.

I'm attaching my project, xsl, xml, the source and destination dtd's and struzzo.log.

Addendum: I was just able to accomplish copying the full source xsl in to a new mapping xsl stylesheet without a problem. And all of the links were re established.

Pat,
the original problem is that you get a mapper window with the source
schema pane missing only the schema name in the title bar, right? The
source schema and the mapping is properly displayed (at least, that's what
I see trying to reproduce your problem).

About the crash, the log file is not giving us enough information; is that
something you can reproduce deterministically?

Thanks,
Minollo

Minollo,

You are correct. The source designation is missing in the title bar and everything else looks right. If I were to make additional changes to the map without specifying the source designation and were to switch to full source view, I would not be able to get back to the map view. Stylus issues a message saying that I have to specify the source and sometimes the destination schemas first. And if I respecify either the source or destination, then I'm going to lose my links.

Forget the log file. I have not been able to reproduce that situation. That happened while I was creating my original post, so I just threw it in.

We can see what you are saying. This is something we should be able to fix
in build 44 that will be made available later tomorrow (and that also fixes
memory issues related to use of DTDs and XMLSchemas as Mapper source or
destination schemas).

Still, it's a crash; so we are trying playing with your testcase to see how
that may have happened. If you remember about anything peculiar you did
when you got the crash, please let us know.

Thanks,
Minollo

Thanks Minollo. Regarding the crash, it may have been caused by memory issues. That ACORD.DTD is pretty big. This is specifically what I did (and it worked successfully the second time):

I opened my xsl, switched to full source view and copied the entire xsl text to the clipboard. Then I closed that xsl and started a new mapping stylesheet, specified the source and destination dtd's, switched to full source view and pasted the clipboard contents in. Next I switched back to the mapper view to see if my links were reestablished (and they were). THEN, while in mapper view, I clicked on the refresh button for output and that's when the crash occurred.

In my next attempt (which was successful), I clicked on the refresh button while in full source view.

Hope this helps. And thanks,

This is fixed in build 44, which is now available as an update to your 3.0
version.

Hope this helps,
Minollo
