Fransova TannySubject: autocheck externally changed file
Author: Fransova Tanny

When this option is enabled, normally if I switch to another application and change the xml file which is currently open in SS, and when I switch back to SS, the popup should tell me the file changed, ask for reload. But sometime it does not do so, just as if the file has not been changed. I encountered this problem when my java application externally changed the xml file. By changing it with UltraEdit externally, SS responds correctly.

The "file externally modified" check only happens when Stylus Studio regains focus after another application released it. If Stylus Studio remains the active window/application, then no check is performed.

That's designed to work well with scenarios where you modify a file from another application and then move back to Stylus Studio; we don't do the check more frequently because it could be fairly expensive if you have files that require a network connection to fetch their status.

Thanks,
Minollo
