smuks srinSubject: dynamic order by clause
Author: smuks srin

declare variable $orderby as xs:string external;
declare variable $name as xs:string external;
for $b in //abc
where $b/name=$name
order by $b/$orderby

The orderby is dynamic name received from saxon (for example: age) used for sorting the result, unfortunately the sorting does not occur using the above syntax.

If you need to sort on a dynamic node, you can try using

order by $b/*[name()=$orderby]

Hope this helps,
Alberto
