Grégory LegalSubject: Convert String to xml document !
Author: Grégory Legal
Date: 19 Jan 2005 09:24 AM
Hello,

I try to convert a string to a xml document.
I have write the next code :

for $b in /POT/row
where ($b/DateReleve = "2004-09-18 00:00:00.0")
return
let $taille := string-length($b/enregistrement),
$chaine1 := substring($b/enregistrement, 0, $taille)
return $chaine1

Where /POT/row is a field of POT table.
'enregistrement' is another field which contains 'xml document'.
When I run my query, I have a string which represent my xml document.
I can't recover the data inside cause It's not consider as a sequence of nodes.
How can i recover the data contained inside ? Can I convert a string to a xml document
with stylus or can I make an automatically save in a file ??

Help me please ! SOS !
Thanks.

Hi Gregory,
the XQuery specs don't (and won't) define a way to convert a string into
an instance of the data model. This will be doable by means of vendor
extensions, e.g. by writing a Java extension that does the parsing and
returns a DOM tree. As an example, look at the way Saxon 8.x implements
them (http://www.saxonica.com/documentation/extensibility/functions.html)

Hope this helps,
Alberto
