Jon AccorneroSubject: Repeating element question
Author: Jon Accornero

I am using the XML report utility and have an xml file that looks something like this

<Item>
<ItemNumber>1</ItemNumber>
</Item>
<ItemDetail>
<Qty>100</Qty>
</ItemDetail>
<Item>
<ItemNumber>2</ItemNumber>
</Item>
<ItemDetail>
<Qty>200</Qty>
</ItemDetail>
<Item>
<ItemNumber>3</ItemNumber>
</Item>
<ItemDetail>
<Qty>300</Qty>
</ItemDetail>

When I drag and drop the ItemNumber and Qty on the canvas, it gives me the following output
1
100
200
300
2
100
200
300
3
100
200
300

Basically, the Qty element repeats everytime for each Item element. I'm not sure how to correct this. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,
I think that, when you dragged the Qty field inside the table, you have chosen to insert a new repeater block; so, at each iteration of ItemNumber, you iterate over all the Qty's.
You should just drag Item (creating a repeater - or table, or list - for this), then drag ItemNumber and Qty, choosing 'insert value'.

Hope this helps,
Alberto
