Is there a way to copy an xpath and namespaces together? I had thought in XPath 2.0 something like the following was possible, but I can't find anything to support this and it doesn't work in the XPath bar of SS. So did I just dream it up ;)?
xmlns:xenc="http://www.w3.org/2001/04/xmlenc#" xmlns:ds="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#" document::operationInformation/ap:operationInformation/ap:webService

you mean being able to do something similar to what Stylus Studio exposes in Tree and Grid XML editing (Copy XPath to Clipboard), but adding the definition of the namespaces?
We could do that, but it would work only as a reference for you, as there is no way in XPath to declare a namespace-prefix mapping as part of the expression; virtually all XPath implementations do allow you to do that from the API of course.
That's why Stylus Studio copies an XPath expression containing namespaces as:
/a/*[local-name()='b' and namespace-uri()='myNSURI']
