Doug HudgeonSubject: Importing local schema when editing schema on local machine
Author: Doug Hudgeon

I am an XML Spy user and use its CustomCatalogue.xml feature extensively.

The custom catalogue allows me to nominate a local xsd file to import rather than the remote file shown in the schema.

For example, my xsd reads: <xs:import namespace="http://www.rd.com/2004/01/Data" schemaLocation="http://www.rd.com/2004/01/Data"/>

My entry in the custom catalogue reads: <uri name="http://www.rd.com/2004/01/Data" uri="d:\schema\Data.xsd"/>

So that when I am editing locally XML Spy actually imports the local file rather than the remote file.

How can I achieve the same result in Stylus Studio?

HI Doug

To build an OASIS catalog you can use the appropriate document wizard
File -> Document Wizards -> User-defined Catalog

We also have an excellent video tutorial here

Hope this helps

If you have already developed your catalog, just add it to the
project as a regular XML file, and right-click on it. There will
be an option called "Use Document as Catalog". If you click on
that, your catalog will be used for all files in that project.

Note that you can have multiple catalogs in a project, and they
will be searched in order. Also, the full OASIS catalog spec has
been implemented, including delegation and chaining.

Catalogs can also be navigated as if they were part of the file
system - if a catalog is attached to a project, in any File|Open
dialog you can select the 'Project' filesystem type, and the
catalogs will appear as directories, and each catalog entry as a
file. Even delegated catalogs will appear as sub-directories.

There is more at http://www.stylusstudio.com/learn_catalogs.html
including a video demonstration.
