Des ButcherSubject: Stylus Studio slow on NT4 SP6
Author: Des Butcher

I am trying to evaluate Stylus Studio. I am running Stylus Studio on NT4 SP6 using version 4.6 build 103v

Once the program is launched the copy of the machines runs at 100%, until stylus studio is shut down. When studio is running it runs so slowly as to be almost unusable. I have shut down all other application when running stylus studio, with the same results.

The machine is a p4 based machine with 512 Mg of Ram.

Any help in solving or identifying the cause of this problem would be much appreciated.

One of the possible causes of this behavior might have been fixed in 5.0 Beta 2, which is going public today.

Even if 5.0 is not officially supported on Windows NT 4.0, the functionality you had in the previous Stylus release will still work fine. If you are willing to try, I can send you a pointer to the beta location.

Thanks,
Minollo

I've tried version 5.0 with the same result.

I've reverted to a 4.6. 103v and have the same result. The previous version being used was an evaluation copy of 4.6.

I've logged a call through support in the UK.

Any thoughts much appreciated,

Des.

Des,

Please can you confirm running 5.0 Beta 2 (BL123), and not an earlier beta.

Then:
- go to Tools|Options|Java Virtual Machine, and uncheck the
"Enabled" radio button
- restart Stylus

Also, have you tried running Stylus on any other machines? If so, do you see the same problem elsewhere?

Paul.
