Joachim SieboldSubject: Problem java extension function and DocFrags
Author: Joachim Siebold

In a cocoon web publishing application I use
a java extension function "htmlprint" which
returns a document fragment. I did not
succeed to use this function with the build-
in xsl processor. I add crimson.jar to the
classpath of the java virtual machine of
stylus studio and get the message:

Provider org/apache/crimson/jaxp/DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl not found

when the java function creates a new
document. The missing class still exists in
crimson.jar. If I omit crimson.jar from the
classpath I get the message:

javax/xml/parsers/DocumentBuilderFactory
not found

which also exists in crimson.jar.

Does anybody has an idea to get java
extension functions work which return
document fragments?

The following files are attached to this
message:

nsgzwi.xml (Source xml data file)
general2html.xsl (xslt file)
textformatter.java (java extension function)

regards
J. Siebold

Documenttextformatter.java

DocumentNSGZWI.xml

The Stylus Studio processor doesn't support factoring of DOM nodes in the
context of Java extensions.
I'm not sure about the error messages you are getting, we'll look into
them; but in any case you won't be able to handle the document fragment
created from a Java extension from inside the Stylus Studio XSLT processor.

In version 4.0, which will be available as a beta version in a few weeks,
you'll be able to have the same kind of debugging functionality currently
available only using the Stylus Studio processor, using Xalan-J; if your
stylesheet works with Xalan-J, that should be the solution to your problem.

Thanks,
Minollo

xalan-j with debugging facilities will solve
the problem because I already use xalan-j
within the cocoon framework.

Thanks
