Mike AhlersSubject: Stylus Studio Crash, Log Attached
Author: Mike Ahlers

Hi,

I encountered a crash with the application. I was editing a Java class and all in a sudden it crashed. I fail to see a particular reason, hopefully the log file gives more info.

Regards,
Mike

Is it something that you can reproduce systematically ?
If yes can you give us more details ?

Hi,

Yes I can reproduce this. I stepped out of the editor and finished it manually. Then came back into the editor. Seems it skipped some part and produces an meaningful error instead of crashing. In short, it fails to load/parse a class file.

[snippet]
/AccountManager.java:149: cannot access org.xml.sax.InputSource

file org\xml\sax\InputSource.class not found

doc = builder.build(filename);
^

1 error
[end snippet]

The crash situation reproduced is when I type the dot after builder. The incremental parser crashes then.

Hopefully this clears up some more. And oh, using the same CLASSPATH, I can compile the file manually.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I am not quite sure to understand. Your are saying that you can not
compile your file with Stylus Studio, but using the same classpath in a
console it compile fine ?
Could you verify the content of Tools->Options->Java Virtual
Machine->ClassPath ?
What kind of class is the variable "builder" ?
Can you send the java source to me, so I can replicate the problem in
house ?

Hi,

I use default settings in the application, checking my classpath settings shows: ${classpath}. The only addition I made to default settings are with compiler parameters: -deprecation

The builder is of type SAXBuilder:
builder = new SAXBuilder(false);

That one is coming from a library jdom-b7.jar (www.jdom.org)
and that jar is in the classpath.

For your request to post code here, could I have your email?
I'll see if I can make a simplified version, since I import quite some.

I have to change my words about 'manual' compiling. I used ant (build tool) in command line from apache.org, and when doing a real manual compilation it gave me same error. Checking why that build tool manages to compile at the moment.

Regards,
Mike

PS> I noticed something else, at first I redeem it unimportant, but maybe it is not. My classpath is printed twice in the output window of the application. I ignore it because finding a class happens order-wise right?
