Richard WagenknechtSubject: More feedback on 3.1....
Author: Richard Wagenknecht

Love the program but there are some annoyances...

1) Most of my work is done locally. I have a project that consists of files in other directories all under a main directory. SS saves the absolute path of the files not the relative path (like MS devstudio). I can't move my project structure to another directory without re-adding all of the files.

2) Why does SS always default to the bin directory for opening files and folders. I'd like to specify the default location myself.

3) Why no Save As for project files?

I really do like it and it has made my job much better. Keep up the good work!

That's something on which we will work before 3.1 GA is out.

I'm adding a PCR for this.

Weird, isn't it? Hopefully we will be able to address that before 3.1 is
released.

Minollo

Here's a few other things that come to mind.

4) If I add files to a project, I can only add one file at a time. I'd like to be able to select multiple files to add and even select a subfolder and have all of its contents added to the project.

5) When I add a scenario for an XSL file, the drop down list for Source XML URL lists the most recently accessed files but it doesn't necessarily list files in the current project. Seems it should to me.

6) In the add scenario dialog, it's very hard to see the file name because the entire URL is displayed. Maybe it should use the same option as the project pane and be able to display only the file name.

Actually you can doing drag&drop from the file system (or from any source
browsed by IE); Stylus Studio accepts drag&drop from Explorer, IE or other
browsing applications.

In 3.1, if you click on [...] in the open file dialog you can choose to see
the project tree as file system, and you can choose files from there.

We'll see what we can do there; you still want the full path, because you
may want to type the path there; but we may have a short representation of
it somewhere else.

Here are additional issues on 3.1, all project related:

1) When starting Studio, it will automatically open the last project. Could we make this an option?

2) When trying to open a different project, it will open, but some of the files in the previous project are put into the Other Documents folder. I thought it was because I still had a file open in the right pane, but it will still had if I close all the files. If I open a project, and no file is opened, I don't have this problem.

Thanks,

It is already: Tools|Options|Application settings

If you close all files before you open the new project, then the "other
documents" nodes will go away; if you close them afterwards, they won't go
away.
You shouldn't be too concerned about what's in the "other documents"
folder; those are not part of the currently open project; in any case, I
will add a PCR to have a functionality to force the removal of documents in
that folder.

Thanks,
Minollo
